I’m not the only one noticing this trend, read this:
When does the movie really start?
The last movie I went to go see (The Incredibles) had so many ads and trailers I couldn’t figure out what was what. Not long ago, there was a clear line between the “before-trailer” ads (slideshow, lights on), to the actual trailers themselves (lights out). This time the line was completely blurred.
In fact, during the before-trailer ads, there was a full-motion trailer for one of the before-movie trailers they were going to show in a couple minutes. (”Coming up in 5 minutes will be the entertaining pre-movie show with the latest gossip of your favorite movie stars”) A trailer for the trailer… I couldn’t believe it. Bizarro…
I really enjoyed watching the curtain rise when the movie was about to start. These days, the theatres don’t even have curtains. I guess those days are gone… So sad…
