Ron Gilbert has a blog

Friday, November 19th, 2004

You remember Ron Gilbert? The mastermind behind some of Lucasarts best games ever made. Monkey Island, one of my all-time favorite games… can’t help but think back to playing that. And yes, with the help of ScummVM, you can go back and play it (it was so good).

So I came across his blog the other day. I’d listen to anything this guy has to say (game industry related… you can ignore the political bits).
Grumpy Gamer

One article in particular I found fascinating:
The Economics of a 2D Adventure in Today’s Market
Imagine if you were making a game in today’s economy. What would it take to make it? Ron takes a good hard look at everything involved (money, manpower, publishing, etc).

Go to MIT for free!

Well, not really.
MIT OpenCourseWare

Here they made available actual material from courses at MIT for viewing online. You can see lecture notes, project assignments and their solutions, study materials, and other various little tidbits. If you’ve always wanted to go to MIT, you can do it for free and in the comfort of your own home (no diploma for your efforts, however).
